Violence is the language of the Surakari. Fortunately, it is one in which we are also very fluent.

Spotlight: Heragul Sabre Heavy Bomber

Sabre Heavy Bomber

In addition to a selection of advanced rules, the Admiral Rules Pack will also introduce four new warships. Two of the warships will be variants on existing hulls while the other two warships will be new classes with all sorts of new rules. It’s still early in play testing, but I think my most favorite new unit will be the new Heragul Sabre Heavy Bomber.

Featuring what will certainly be a tactic changing weapon, the term Heavy Bomber is probably not an accurate title, but it sounds cool. In reality, The Sabre is a mine layer which deploys a powerful weapon called a Thermal Bomb. Mine weapons inherit some of the abilities of missile weapons, but they can’t move unless an enemy warship is nearby. When deployed in squadrons, the end result are mine fields which hinder enemy movement choices and work to box them in.. Just as a note, in the image to the right, the reactor tokens are stand ins for the Thermal Bombs, which do not have finished artwork yet.

I’m going for the “Woah! Is that dinosaur carrying an assault rifle?! That’s awesome!” factor.

Preview of the New Kalidasia Space Battle Map

Standard Map 1
In the near future, Kalidasia Media Productions will be adding a hand painted felt star map to accompany our line of Legends of Kalidasia products. The first design, simply called standard white, will feature dusty star forming regions on top of a distant star field.
Standard Map 2
The prototype map shown in this post is only 2 feet by 3 feet, but the final product will be 6 feet by 4 feet. While pricing details are not finalized yet, I’m targeting a sub $40 price tag.

Spotlight: Sargentic Abbi-Sian

Below is the concept art for Abbi-Sian, a soldier of the rank Sargentic in the Heragul Armed Forces. The image depicts her in a desert camouflage combat suit.

Abbi-Sian

Sargentic Abbi-Sian commands a platoon of Heragul soldiers on the planet Silex Four. In an upcoming short story, the events surrounding her first contact with Surakari ground forces will be revealed. With help from a Krylan named Zyrecon, she will discover why both the Heragul and the Surakari are interested in this hostile, desert wasteland of a planet.

Silex Road will be available on E-Reader Platforms in the coming months.

Spotlight: First Prototype Figures

Prootype FiguresWhen it comes to tabletop games, people like figures. It was not surprising then for several people to ask me if Legends of Kalidasia has a miniature range associated with it. Hopefully, not too far in the future, I can answer yes to that question. The figures shown to the left are the first batch of prototype figures I have created. These figures were made with an on-demand 3D printing service and if I wanted to, I could sell them directly. Unfortunately, the price for these figures would be relatively high, so I’m investigating other options at the moment. While I have no release date set yet, my goal is to have the warships and fighters from Rise of the Surakari available by the end of the year.

Spotlight: Heragul Tiger Shark Frigate and Surakari Gun Boat

New Warship ClassesTwo new small expansions are under development for Legends of Kalidasia and each one will feature a new class of warship. The Surakari Fleet Pack will include the Surakari Gun Boat while the Heragul Fleet Pack will introduce the Tiger Shark Frigate.

Up until now, all the Surakari vessels are based on a single design philosophy. The Gun Boat breaks this mold by taking the best characteristics from the Destroyer and Frigate classes and merges them into a single warship. Not only is the Gun Boat the fastest warship in the game, but it also lacks the signature beam weapons of the other front line Surakari vessels. Despite having a deadly reputation, the Gun Boat is seen only in limited numbers….for now.

The existing Heragul Frigate design in thousands of years old. The current ruler of the Heragul Empire has ordered that all Heragul warship designs should be updated. Currently, the Tiger Shark Frigate is the only new design in mass production. Built around a massive Fire Torpedo launcher, the Tiger Shark packs more firepower and speed then the current Frigate. Unfortunately, only a single factory is producing Tiger Sharks and about one hundred ships have been built. As a result, most combat fleets only have access to a single Tiger Shark. Usually, this Tiger Shark leads other Frigates into battle.
